Audio: Show us five CDs or albums that changed your life.

Was the first proper record that I really, really, really properly got into and for that reason alone, it changed my life. But not only that, it grounded my musical taste in most things that have a guitar and a tune and I went the "heavy" route because of this album. I went from this, to Black Sabbath, to Metallica to Pantera and so on, but never really gave up these roots. It also moulded a lot of my youth too as because of my musical direction, I found some fantastic friends and had some of the best times of my life. I owe a lot to this album.......
I fell in love with Madonna, BIG time. But there are some classics on this album and I was hooked. It also helped me through my puberty years I guess. I was "discovering" myself............I can't believe I have just admitted that on here......
This is another album that turned my muscial tastes. I hadn't heard ANYTHING like this before, anywhere. It was new, otherworldly stuff and I was mesmerised. From then on, I tried to find ANYTHING that was electronic and this never really left me. I learned to play keyboards because of this man and spent 8 years of my life practicing like crazy. I found other bands, such as Kraftwerk and from that, I also found dance music. Again, this was in my youth, so I spent many an hour in my room with this full blast....
This was the first album that I really can honestly say I listened to where EVERY track was something special to behold. I hadn't heard an album where I had at least wanted to (even if I didn't) fast forward a track or two. Thom Yorke's voice, his expression, the "challenge" of the music and I was listening to it constantly for months when I was going through a very difficult period in my life. Might be a depressing album to listen to when you are down, but I was more enthralled with the music and thats what helped me through. Still an astonishing album.....
This isn't actually the album I was looking for, but the band are correct. The Album I was looking for was Tattood Beat Messiah. I can't say it changed my life as such, but it "reminds" me of one of the best periods of my life and I was introduced to it by one of my very, very best friends and it started a fantastic period of my life with some wonderful people who I still treasure to this day. Some amazing memories with this album......
What are five books that changed your life?
Inspired by Ms. Genevieve.
I don't really have "5" books as they haven't really changed my life at all. They have changed the way I look at things slightly, but I don't beleive there are too many books out there that can really make you change your life. Things would have to be pretty damn bad in your life and the book would have to be the most profound thing you have ever read for it to change you that much. There are not many books that I beleive that could do that. Maybe any major religious book such as the Bible, the Koran etc etc if that is the way you are inclined. I am not, so only a couple of books have really made me think......
Both of these books were brought to my attention by my good friend Robin. He had them both and when we were living together many years ago, I used to raid his book collection as it was invariably much more interesting and extensive than mine, so I had something to read on the Tube every day. I picked up "The Little Prince" and read it in a day on two trips on the Tube. A beautifully written book which puts things across in a way both children and adults will get something out of and make you think and question yourself and the way you conduct your life. It definitely made me think and I can honestly say, after I had read it, I was on such a high, I didn't stop smiling for a week!!!
Along similar lines, I also read Jonathan Livingston Seagull in the same year and it had pretty much the same effect on me. Short and sweet, but lovely idea and just makes you think within yourselves and makes you question how you are living your life.
I recommend them both, and reread them every now and again, just to give you a boost in life, as I will guarantee you will get something out of them.........
